The real challenge begins. Mommy went home today so she could work this week. Daddy is working from the hospital and helping Grammy take care of Everett. It's tough not having Mommy here already. We will get through it though. Hopefully, we'll all be home by the weekend (just in time for Eagles playoff games).
As for Everett, he hasn't need any IV anything the last couple days and his counts are rising back up (good news!). Before they let him get back home, they want to see them ramping back up and at a certain level. Fighting Leukemia is a constant battle. Now I get frustrated at seeing him so healthy and happy but being stuck in the hospital and other kids going daily. I think I just need some time at home to get away from all the beeping machines, crying, and severely sick kids in the oncology ward. We see 1 year olds basically locked up in their cribs for hours at a time, kids with multiple head surgeries, children of all ages crying, and hear awful stories in the cafeteria about how someone's child got into the hospital. Sometimes I feel like I'm locked in a psychiatric ward.
We always thank you for your continued support. God has blessed us with great friends and family. Hopefully, we'll be celebrating the end of Phase I of our journey. I'm sure Everett is dreaming of the playroom right now...
praying for you guys this week.... what a wonderful blessing that you, John, are able to work from the hospital! And Val, good luck back at work - I'll be praying especially that God will give you the ability to focus on your daily tasks as you are not with Everett.
ReplyDeleteThanks for updating! In my daily prayers, Nicole
Hoping you guys are able to go home after this week! It will be a welcomed break for everyone I am sure! I love the pictures of Everett, but the one of Avery and Everett just touches my heart. You should be proud parents knowing the strong bond your boys have and will have for a lifetime!
ReplyDeleteEverett and all of you are in our prayers daily, and hope that the medicine is healing Everett at a rapid rate.
Take care, and GO EAGLES! I hope you are all home to enjoy the game!
Love you guys,
Cortney, Adam, Gabe and Mara
Thinking about you guys --- hopefully everett will be home and the good luck the eagles need this weekend! I'm so amazed at you and Val you are doing a great job i dont know if i would be able to handle this - stay positive and know we are all praying for a speedy recovery. Keep the updates coming i check all the time
ReplyDeleteWe pray for all of you! That Everett heals rapidly and the treatments works very effectively! We are praying that the whole family gets to go home for awhile to regain your strengthes and rest and relax in your own surroundings. That would be great for time alone with your family and the boys get to catch up on play time! Im sure it would be great for all of you in your own home! Love You!! AVD
ReplyDelete4 posts from 4 beautiful women. I don't think that's ever happened to me before...
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. I'm doing my best to spend time with him, putting my work time in, keeping track of his progress, and updating the blog while Mom is working. If I get him to bed by 9 it's a good day, leaving very little time to even check my email.
None of this would be possible without my mom being here. She's been incredible over the last 3 weeks.
Love you all dearly,
John
